Obituary

Abner Militante Francisco, 73, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Virginia Beach, Virginia on May 27, 2023. He was born on April 29, 1950, in Capalonga, Philippines to his parents, Isabelo and Crispina. Abner was a proud veteran of the US Navy, serving for over 20 years.

Abner had a love for animals, travel, mechanics, and all things Navy. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1975 and retired after 20 years. He was so very proud of his military service, and his service to the military as a defense contractor during Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he ran convoys to get critical supplies to the armed servicemembers and defense contractors in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Abner is survived by his beloved wife Mercedes of over 45 years, his children Henry (Paula), Nathalie (John), Alex and Anthony. He was also a loving grandfather to Noelia, Adrien, Gregory, and Gabriel. He was the oldest of his siblings: Anita Francisco Baquel, Abel (Vilma) Francisco, Aurora Francisco (Teody) Bacarro, Isabelo Francisco Jr., Ariel (Rosemarie) Francisco, and so many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles that he loved and cherished dearly. He was predeceased by his loving parents Crispina and Isabelo, and brother Alex and his wife Nina.

Rest in peace, Kiko. Your family and friends will always remember your loyalty to family, contagious joy and genuine spirit.
