Obituary

Our Beloved Mother Annie P. Barrett, departed this long life (98 years), to enter into eternal life with her Heavenly Father on December 16, 2016.

In life, Annie was the last of the 11 children (10 Deceased) born of the late Jim Pritchett and Mary Clarissa Pritchett of Buford, North Carolina, and now in here passing, she is the last to join her family, once again. ("The first shall be last and the last shall be first")

Annie met and married the late Elder Samuel R. Barrett, Sr.. From this blessed union, three children were born…Samuel R. Barrett, Jr. (deceased), Olivia (deceased), and Mary Anne.

During their marriage, Pastor Barrett, founded and Pastored St. Mary's Holiness Church in Chesapeake, Va. After his passing, the incoming Pastor Elder Thomas Ashburn, Sr. & his wife 1 st Lady Dorothy Ashburn, as a gesture of love, and respect to her as the former 1 st Lady, proclaimed and dedicated the 1 st Sundays in August as "MOTHER BARRETT'S DAY". She was humbled and honored by this act of kindness. She was devoted to her church and her family and friends. She would do anything she could to help people. She had an "Open Door Policy". She was the embodiment of kindness and love-a true reflection of God's love and grace. She gave strength, and encouragement. She gave sage, Godly advice, especially to wives on marriage and on how a wife should love, honor and take care of their husbands. She was a "Prayer Warrior, and was quick to quote Jeremiah 9:17…"Call for the mourning women!"

Mother Barrett attended Norfolk State University's School of Nursing, She was Fashion Model…nice, neat & petite. And we dare not forget to mention how she proudly adorned all those fancy hats! Definitely a 1 st Lady!

She was a member of COGIC, but attended St. Mary's faithfully. She will be remembered for her soft spoken-yet-strong New York accented testimonies, which always began with, "Let me tell you something honey (high pitch voice)…when the Lord saved me, He filled my heart with so much love, that before I'd kill a bug, I'd just sweep it out!"

Yes, Mother Barrett, Loved, Loved, Loved the Lord! And she loved those left behind to cherish her long life's legacy-one daughter, Mary Anne Barrett and one devoted and loving Daughter-n-Law Rita Barrett, whom she loved dearly, as one of her very own children. Grand children-Dori, Dana & Mark Barrett, Azalia Cuffee, Divon, Eric and Xavier Daye, and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. "To God Be The Glory".
