Annie Marie Thomas lost her battle with cancer on July 3rd 2024 at her home in Portsmouth VA with her dear friend and roommate of 17 years, Robert Williams, by her side. She was 67 years young.

Marie is survived by her daughter, Tammy Jones; daughter, Melissa Jones and her four children Caleb, Joshua, Chloe, and Luke; daughter Mary Wells (Nathan) and their two children Hannah and Sarah; and daughter Holly Thomas. Also, one brother Donald Ray Wells, a host of other family members and her beloved dog, Peanut.

She was predeceased by her mother, Nellie Byrd, her father George Wells, her stepfather Charles 'Buddy' Byrd, one sister, Mary Ann Bailey and two brothers, Jimmie Wells and Bobby Wells, and her cherished Chihuahua, Gizmo.

Full of life, carefree and young at heart, Marie never met a stranger. She loved her family and was especially close to her late sister Mary 'Ann' Bailey, her closest confidant who lovingly supported her through trying times. Marie had a deep love for animals and volunteered her time rescuing pregnant stray cats. She used her creative talent in arts and crafts and became an expert in handcrafted beaded jewelry. She loved laughter, old movies, and Harlequin romance novels were her favorite read. She will be loved and missed...

Special thanks to her roommate, whom she affectionately called 'Robby' for serving as a full-time caregiver in her last days. The family deeply appreciates your sacrifice. We also want to thank the team at Trinity hospice for their care and support.
