Ernest L. Owens, Sr., retired Master Chief E-9, U.S. Coast Guard, was born on June 26, 1930 and died on December 18, 2017 at the age of 87.

He was the beloved husband of Evelyn Wayne Owens (deceased) and is survived by children Lloyd Vincent Owens, Wayne Maurice Owens, Dr. Michael Henderson Owens, Dr. Ernest L. Owens, Jr., Rosemarie Jackson, Peter Anthony Owens, and Donna Owens Lindsey.  He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

He served on the U.S. Coast Guard for 33 years.
