James T. (Shorty) Jones, 75 a retired U.S. Postal Mail Carrier, passed peacefully November 1, 2015 at his home. He was born April 10, 1940 to the late James T. and Hazel Hyman Jones in Princess Anne County, VA. He was an ardent Cowboys fan. In his earlier years, he was known for playing in baseball and basketball adult leagues throughout the Virginia Beach and Tidewater area. He was among the first black mail carriers hired in the city of Virginia Beach; becoming known to many as "Mailman" or "JT". He is survived by his loving wife Barbara, one daughter, Adrian Nicole Wilson (Tim), Timothy Keith Jones both of Atlanta, GA.; six grandchildren Isaiah, Alyssa, Bryce, Matthew, Quynn and Summer; three sisters, Estelle J. Bray (Melvin), Richmond, Patty Williams (Russell) Virginia Beach, and Carolyn Jones Washington, DC; one niece: Hajah (Peaches) James, four nephews: Darren Jones, Shawn Jones, Aaron James and Terrance James; a host of relatives and friends.
