Janie Bristow
April 25, 1953-January 2, 2026
Janie Bristow was born on April 25, 1953 in Franklin, VA to Virginia Whitehead and James Thomas Bristow. She fell asleep in death on January 2, 2026.
Although, she was born in Virginia, she was raised with her sister, Barbara, from childhood in Brooklyn, NY, which is what she considered home. It was in Brooklyn where she prayed to God to find a religion for her and her sons. She wanted her sons, Rowland and Winston, to have a spiritual foundation. She started to study the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses and on September 4, 1977, she was baptized. Janie had a love for deep study of the Bible and loved to share what she learned with others. She loved to attend Christian meetings and was known for her heartfelt comments.
In addition to her spiritual routine, Janie loved music, especially Sam Cooke. She also had a love for shopping. She was known for her colorful personality, her fashion sense, and her impeccable taste. Janie also loved clocks and had a collection of them, which led to her motto "Take Your Time".
Janie is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, William Whitehead. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her two sons, Rowland and Winston, her daughter in law, Vanessa, her five grandchildren, Rowland Jr, Cheyenne, Jashala, Winston Jr, and Andrew, her twin brother, Eugene Bristow, her sisters, Barbara Buckley, Darlene Wiggins, Elizabeth Wilson, and Gloria Withers, her brother James Bristow, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her spiritual family.
The family would like to thank everyone for their phone calls, text messages, flowers, meals, gifts and prayers.
