Jeannette Delores Meekins, 61, was born on September 6, 1964 to her parents, Mary Lee

Harper and Henry Rayfield Harper. Jeannette passed on April 3, 2026, in Virginia Beach, VA

Jeannette was educated in the Chesapeake Public School System. Jeannette was employed as a

shift manager at Hardee’s for 17 years. Jeannette enjoyed listening to music, singing, playing

video games, and spending time with family and friends. Jeannette was also a die-hard fan of

the Washington Redskins/Commanders. Jeannette was always caring for others and willing to

help in any way possible, carrying on the family tradition despite her illness.

Jeannette was preceded in death by her father, Henry Rayfield Harper and her sister, Annette

Denise Ruffin. Jeannette is survived by her children, John C. Meekins and Nicholas Meekins;

grandchildren, Sylas Meekins, Nola Meekins, Tianna Meekins, and A’aiesha Meekins; her

mother, Mary Lee Harper-Patino; siblings, Eugene Harper, Michael Harper, Antonio (Rose)

Harper, Anthony (Ronda) Harper, Joyce Lee Harper Rich-Rishel, Jacqulin (Michael) Ruffin,

Drexter Harper, Reginald Harper, Jackie Reed and Cynthia Reed; and a host of nieces, nephews,

other relatives and friends. A special thank you to her caregivers, her siblings Jackie and

Anthony, and her niece Michelle, and nephew Alonzo.
