Obituary

Jeannette Lucille McClellan

Her adventure began on November 12, 1947, in Norwich, CT. Jeannette was affectionately known as "Cookie" to her family and dearest friends. Born the youngest of two children to Norman and Edna (Ruley), her modest, shy personality was loved by so many family members and friends. She peacefully passed away in her home on Friday, February 17, 2023, at age 75.

Jeannette attended Norwich Free Academy with her sister where she developed an appreciation for learning. As a young woman, she worked for Sears and Roebuck and 35 years later retired in Virginia Beach, Virginia as an office manager.

As a cherished mother, grandmother, and sister Jeannette's talents were many, as an accomplished artisan, who loved crocheting, jewelry making, drawing, sewing, and cake decorating. Her hobbies included playing poker, fishing, collecting cookbooks, and feeding the birds.

The most significant day in Jeannette's life was the day she symbolized her dedication to Jehovah GOD by water baptism, after having studied the bible with two of Jehovah's Witnesses. Her deep love for Jehovah and her neighbor moved her to dedicate her life to Jehovah from that day forward.

Jeannette will primarily be remembered for all her baked treats & cookies, as well as her love for her family and the love of sunrises at the beach. In addition to her smiling face on family vacations. Our precious mother was special and truly one of a kind. She loved and cherished her family and her dog, her presence in our lives will be sorely missed. Mom, you will be missed more than you will ever know, we love you!

Jeannette is preceded in death by her beloved son Ossie McClellan Jr., survived by her five loving children, her three daughters Katherine McClellan-Dunbar, Stephanie McClellan-Mason, Deidre McClellan, her two sons Wayne McClellan, Timothy McClellan. Jeannette's sister Judith Montgomery and her beloved four-legged friend, Foxy who was always by her side; her very special seven grandchildren & seven great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. We would also like to thank the Sentra network's kind nurses and care providers for the gentle and loving care they provided to Jeannette and our family.
