Juanita E.
Pass
April 4, 1941 – March 11, 2017
Juanita Elaine Pass was born April 4, 1941 in East Saint Louis, IL to Estellia and Lee Dell Jones. She is the only child of that marital union. Juanita fell asleep in death on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at home with her daughters Rhonda and Valerie by her bedside. Juanita is survived by her husband of 34 years William "Bill" Pass, children Rhonda (Alfred Mosley) of Virginia Beach, VA.; Valerie (Robert J. Cathey Sr.) of Markham, IL, Michael Bolden of Pasadena, CA and Arjay Ratliff of Phonenix, AZ, siblings Earnestine Parram of Florissant, MO, Tanzie Renee Anthony of Bolivar, TN, Leeniecy Jones Smith, AZ, and Billy Parram of East Saint Louis, IL; grandchildren Jason Birge, Curtis and Keith Johnson, Tiffanie and Bernard Rheaves and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Professionally, Juanita became a LPN and practiced for 30 years in a field she dearly loved. She was employed by Christian Welfare Hospital and Dr. Reed-OB/GYN office both in East Saint Louis, IL. While in Virginia she was employed by Lake Taylor Hospital, Norfolk and Sentara Nursing and Rehab off Rosemont Road, Virginia Beach.
Juanita enjoyed raising her 5 children, cooking, sewing for them and loving them. She was also very artistically gifted. She cared for her Down-Syndrome child Diedre (Doll baby) for 58 years. Juanita began studying with Jehovah's Witnesses in the early 70's; in fact it was her father Lee Jones who studied with the entire family. Juanita was baptized in 1973 and has been a member of the Pembroke congregation since her arrival in Virginia Beach in October 1993. Due to physical limitations she has been shut-in for the better part of 10 years and relied on the telephone tie-in to receive spiritual instruction from the meetings. She viewed KHConf as a blessing from Jehovah because she no longer had to worry about missing a spiritual feeding because the tie-in lines where taken. She quickly adapted to the new technology that was being used to dispense spiritual food. She became adept at using JW Library for personal study and JW Broadcasting. She looked forward to the monthly programs and truly enjoyed the "morning worship" and the music videos in fact from the time the music video entitled "Just Around the Corner" was introduced it became the first thing she played every morning on awakening and a few additional times during the day. She said the lyrics reminded her of Jehovah's promises and she was strengthened and encouraged to endure.
