Obituary

Judith Sellers, 89, a beloved wife, mother, sibling and "Grandma DeeDee" died April 15th, 2025, in the home she adored – surrounded by her family and the stunning views that always brought her peace.

She was, in a word, a warrior. Diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy in the late 80's, doctors said she could have just five years to live and of course, she refused to listen. Who knew it would be just the first of many medical hurdles to be ignored. No challenge was too big, and don't you dare bet against her. Judith Sara Sellers played by her own rules.

The night before she said goodbye, Judith was singing English limericks – word for hilarious word. Her love for all things British never waned. The freezer was always stocked with cottage pie and bangers. The cupboard, with ginger wine. She was just 23 when a Yankee soldier from North Carolina wooed her away from England. Their first meeting read like a Hollywood script. The tall, lanky Brit, sitting on a tavern jukebox, holding court. The Carolina farmer couldn't stop staring.

Her two daughters, Kim and Sherry, will always remember their mom as a woman ahead of her time – business owner, real estate broker, tax consultant, long before working moms were the norm.

Judith leaves behind her two girls, a very spoiled kitty named Sweetie, and four grandchildren – Bryce, Skylar, Logan and Jody. Overseas, her sister Dots, brother John, brother-in-law Peter and sister-in-law Nina, mourn as well.

The Sellers family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff and friends who cared for her with dignity and kindness. Dilena, Denise, Tschoibi, Linda, Leona, Terri, Tina and Jimmy will always be our angels. A special thanks to neighbor Ken Howard who was always her knight in shining armor.

A Celebration of Life is currently being planned.
