Linwood Richardson, Jr. fell asleep in death on Sunday, December 21, 2014, at the age of 72. He leaves behind his wife Barbara Richardson; daughters: Karen Garris, husband Nelson Garris; Kathy Fowler, husband John Fowler; Kimberly Richardson; Keandra Odukoya, husband Jeremiah Odukoya, granddaughter Jael Odukoya; Kandis Richardson; sons: Kevin Richardson, wife Dorretta Richardson; Kerry Richardson, granddaughters Keira and Kia Richardson; Kelsey Richardson, granddaughter Chelsey Dickens. Sisters: Louise Watson, Hazel Richardson, Dorothy Spivey; Brothers: Sydney Richardson, Leon Richardson; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends. Linwood Richardson, Jr. was born September 6, 1942 to Corine and Len Richardson. He was the eldest of their sons. He grew up in Suffolk Virginia along with his five siblings. He graduated from Nansemond High School and as a young man entered the United States Army and thereafter married. Several years and a couple of children later his wife began to study with Jehovah's Witnesses. By this time Linwood was serving overseas in the Vietnam War, but his wife always wrote to him about what she was learning from the bible and would send him bible based literature. Linwood recognized the ring of bible truth and after making the decision to leave the military he also began to study the bible with Jehovah's Witnesses. He was later baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on March 10, 1974. His life became very fulfilling helping others to learn about his grand creator Jehovah God. He along with his wife of 45 years raised their eight children to love and worship the only True God Jehovah. He was a quiet and easy going husband and father and needed very little materially as long as he could serve Jehovah and provide for his family. Linwood retired early from Virginia Chemical Company and although experienced failing mobility, he enjoyed serving for many years as the Field Service Overseer of the Midtown congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. He loved to talk to people about God's Kingdom and even after being hospitalized with a terminal illness; he continued witnessing from his hospital bed until he could no longer talk. Linwood Richardson, Jr. will be remembered by all as a loving father, husband, and genuine friend; more importantly he will be remembered by his heavenly father as a dedicated servant.
