Margaret C.
Palmer
March 5, 1939 – December 8, 2022
Margaret C Palmer was born on March 5, 1939. She went home to be with the Lord on December 8, 2022, at the age of 83. She was the firstborn to the late Plummer E. Crumble and the late Viola Crumble. She received her education in Virginia Beach public schools. She was married to the late Starley R. Palmer for 50+ years. Margaret devoted her time to her family, her church, and her work. She was a member of the Glorious Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith where the Elder Goodman is the Pastor and Overseer. She and her late husband enjoyed traveling to Maryland, Delaware, and North Carolina for church service on various Sundays. She would often boast about how quickly she could cross the Bay Bridge while others in the car were asleep. When she was no longer able to travel with her church, she faithfully attended several churches in the area when her health allowed her to do so. She also enjoyed traveling to different states on church bus trips with her friends and traveling to Maryland in September every year to spend a week with her sister. She also enjoyed Christmastime and looked forward to seeing family and the friends she had met on her annual trips. She embodied the true definition of love with everyone she encountered. No matter what room she entered, she always brought a special light you did not know you needed.
Margaret worked as a custodian for the City of Virginia Beach School System, retiring with over 30 years of dedicated and faithful service. She was a loving sister, stepmother, aunt, and friend. She was known for speaking her mind and doing things her way. She was always concerned about her appearance and was probably one of the small group of people who still wore starched and ironed blouses and who still polished her shoes. Her house was always clean and neat with a place for everything and everything in its place. She had an unmatched sense of humor; whenever you visited her, you were guaranteed to leave in laughter.
She leaves to cherish her memory one sister, Rosa Owens of Upper Marlboro, MD, two brothers, Plummer Lee, and William David Crumble of Virginia Beach, (two brothers preceded her in death, Este Crumble and James Gilbert Crumble), six stepchildren, Margaret Johnson, Latonya Roberson, Deshawn and Sheri Johnson, Shery McCants, Shamika Woods, step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
