Rebecca G.
Olds
May 16, 1943 – September 23, 2018
Rebecca Olds, the daughter of the late James Galloway and the late Delia Cloud Galloway, was born on Sunday May 16th 1943 in Mount Airy, North Carolina. She is survived by her husband Donza Olds of Virginia Beach, her brother Edward Galloway and his wife Helen Galloway of Cleveland Ohio. She is also survived by her two sons Shaughn Olds of Virginia Beach, and Anthony Olds of Columbus, Ohio, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
She was a graduate of Jones High School in Mt. Airy, North Carolina. She then attended St. Augustine College in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she met her future husband Donza Olds, from whom she attained the name "Re" in 1962. Re graduated college in 1966, and later became fifth grade teacher in Danville, Virginia.
After marrying Donza on August 26, 1967. Re moved to Virginia Beach with her husband where she switched from teaching fifth grade at Woodstock Elementary to kindergarten in White Oaks Elementary. Shortly afterward they became the proud parents of two sons: Shaughn Andre Olds and Anthony Omar Olds. Re and Donza were married a little more than 51 years.
She was baptized in January 1982, and soon after she demonstrated her zeal for Jehovah by becoming a regular pioneer. Rebecca was well known for her love of the Kingdom Melodies, and for singing them at home as well as in the ministry. She and her husband loved to teach others about Jehovah's Kingdom and His promised New World. Her hobbies were sewing, entertaining, traveling to assembles, and conventions (both domestic and international).
Re and her husband desire to serve Jehovah in a greater capacity led them to become early members of the French group where they both served with joy as the group grew to become a congregation.
Re's warm, and empathetic manner endeared her to all she met. As a result, she was known for her hospitality and her love shown to all who entered the Kingdom Hall and the Old's household. She was a fine example of devotion, both to Jehovah and her husband. She was often spoken of as being a lady in her speech, conduct, and in her grooming. She will be truly missed, but not forgotten.
Favorite Scripture is Romans 14:8 - ?"For if we live to Jehovah, and if we die, we belong to Jehovah. So both if we live and if we die, we belong to Jehovah.
