Virginia Beach - Robert "Bob" Devich passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2014 after a workplace accident. He was born in New Haven, Connecticut on May 21, 1949. On September 27, 1969 Bob married high school sweetheart, Susan Lazarski. Bob moved with his wife, Susan, and son, Jonathan, to Va. Beach in 1974. He was employed at Baillio Sand Company for the past 34 years. Bob was known for his big smile and strong handshake. His genuine kindness, dedication and love were unwavering towards his family, friends and faith. He loved to ride his bike through Pungo and for many years was a fixture in the local cycling scene. If he wasn't on his bike he'd have a fishing pole in hand and his dog, Tessa, by his side. Bob also dedicated time to the community and helped with various fundraisers. After helping with the setup at events, he could be seen carrying his camera and documenting the day. Bob had a strong faith in God and became one of Jehovahs Witnesses in 1969; he was a member of the Ocean Congregation. He lived his life through strong beliefs and had a gentle way of sharing those with others. Bob leaves behind his loving wife Susan, and his son Jonathan. He also leaves one sister, Carol Volpe of Southington, CT, niece Andrea Volpe Smith, aunt and uncle in-laws, Dorothy and Jerry Dionne, his faithful dalmatian Tessa, as well as too many friends-turned-family to mention.
