Roderick Lemour Jenkins was born on October 27, 1945 in Portsmouth, Virginia to the late, Albert and Maybelle Turnage.   He was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 8, 2022.

Roderick was educated through Portsmouth City Public Schools and attended IC Norcom High School.  He later enrolled at Norfolk State University and Tidewater Community College, where he received his certification in Substance Abuse Counseling.

He worked as a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor with Maryview Behavior Medicine Center, where Roderick effectively helped to change the lives of many people.  He retired in 2005.

Roderick is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Maybelle Turnage, his brother, Lloyd McCoy Jenkins, his nephew Kevin Jenkins and niece, Gwendolyn Michelle Jenkins.  Left to cherish his memory is his sister, Gwendolyn Petty, his nieces; Marlene Wright and Laurel Wilcox, his nephews; Robert Jenkins and Waymond Jenkins, Jr. and a host of great nieces, nephews and friends.
