Sandra T.
Morton
July 10, 1960 – May 31, 2025
Sandra Morton, age 64, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2025, at her home in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Born on July 10, 1960, in Freeman, Virginia, Sandra was the beloved daughter of George and Jossie Trusty. She graduated from Brunswick High School in 1978 and went on to earn a degree in Marketing from Virginia Commonwealth University. Later, she pursued a degree in Education from Virginia Union University and, with her enduring love of knowledge, returned to school to earn a master's degree in Library Science.
Sandra was the devoted and loving wife of Bert Morton, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and unshakable faith. Together, they were a shining example of commitment and grace and would have celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary on October 2, 2025.
Known for her radiant voice and graceful dance, Sandra brought joy to many through her musical and artistic talents. Whether lifting spirits with her band's rendition of Mustang Sally or dancing with purpose and passion, she touched countless hearts and left lasting impressions. But beyond her talents, Sandra will be most remembered for her generous heart and unwavering willingness to help anyone in need.
A pillar of strength and service within the Jehovah's Witness Ocean congregation, Sandra was often the first to lend a hand, offer a word of encouragement, or sit and pray with someone. She loved to travel, having visited most U.S. states, as well as the Bahamas, Mexico, Canada, Bermuda, and Italy. In 2024, she fulfilled a lifelong dream of touring South America. She also found joy in reading, exercising along the oceanfront, and spending cherished time with her family.
Sandra thrived in educational spaces and was passionate about learning and teaching. Her presence would light up a school, and she made a lasting impact on students, colleagues, and friends wherever she went.
Her life was a melody of love, faith, and service—and though she has taken her final bow, her song lives on in the hearts of all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Bert Morton Sr.; her daughter, Tierney Walker (James) of Macon, North Carolina; and her son, Bert Morton Jr. of Chester, Virginia. She was a devoted grandmother to three grandsons: Keegan, Shiloh, and Jahari and two granddaughters: Jahmya, and Jahtia.
Sandra is also survived by her sisters: Margaret (Ed) Clay of Englewood, New Jersey; Carolyn Trusty of Englewood, New Jersey; Elsie Best of Richmond, Virginia; and Stephanie Trusty of Englewood, New Jersey; and her brothers: George ( Bonita) Trusty of Richmond, Virginia; Milton (Pearl) Trusty of Skippers, Virginia; Marvin (Sandra) Trusty of Richmond, Virginia; and Terry (Ellen) Trusty of Tallahassee, Florida; her sister in law Malinda Morton of Freeman, Virginia. She leaves behind a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, and lifelong companions.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
