Shirley Deloris Jenkins Carr, was born in Norfolk, Va. November 12, 1943 to the late William H. and Alice Jenkins. She is survived by three sisters: Alnatha Russell (Horace-Deceased), Verna Van Camp (William) and Gloria Walker (Rudolph). Her deceased family members were Julia Reid (Thomas), Mildred Jenkins (Cecil) and Horace Jenkins (Bertha). She is also survived by her children, Johnnie Jenkins (Vivian) and Chris Jenkins (Gina) of Virginia Beach and one daughter, Angela Jenkins also from Virginia Beach. She had (14) grandchildren and (6) great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, and other family members and friends. Shirley was a loving person which was evident by the way she greeted you with a smile. Even being disabled, she was a happy person. She loved talking on the phone. She resided at Kindred Nursing Home where she met many friends. She never allowed her disability to keep her from being appropriate in her appearance. Shirley graduated from Crestwood High School and became certified in the nursing field. She worked in various nursing homes and houses during her career. She loved dancing and music. Shirley learned about Jehovah God, dedicated her life to Him and was baptized in 1980's. She loved people so much that she spent many hours in teaching them about God's promise. While in the nursing home, she often spoke about the resurrection hope. She always shared her hope with her children and grandchildren. (Ps. 37:10, 11, 29) All those who knew Shirley know how much she deeply loved them. She will be dearly missed by all.
