Obituary

Virginia B. Littlejohn 72, passed away on March 3, 2018, in Richmond, Virginia. She was the wife of James Littlejohn with whom she shared 31 years of marriage.

Born in Franklin, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late William A. and Gladys S. Boone. She attended Nansemond County Training School and Southwestern High School, where she graduated as the valedictorian of her class in 1963. She attended Hampton University and Norfolk State University where she graduated in January, 1969. She was employed as an English teacher with the Portsmouth School District and taught at Alf J. Mapp Junior High School from 1969 to 1978.

She had many hobbies and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and baking delicious coconut cakes for family gatherings along with her specialty potato salad. Virginia loved to write letters and could be counted on to send special thank you notes for any gifts she received. She was an active member of Silver Sneakers for many years. Virginia was baptized at an early age at Corinth Chapel United Church of Christ, Suffolk, Va. and later joined Ebenezer Baptist Church, Portsmouth, Va. She  will be remembered for her easy going personality and giving spirit as she always tried to help anyone who was in need.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, James Littlejohn, sisters, Elizabeth Anne King (Darrell), Olivia Brown, Stephanie Odom (Hurley) and brother, Jarvis Boone (Nelva). She was preceded in death by another sister Geraldine B. Odom. She will be missed and remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and a host of friends and acquaintances.
