Vivian J. Gilbert, 85, of Virginia Beach, passed away, Tuesday, May 16, 2023. She was born in Norfolk, VA to the late Sidney and Eva J. Ricks Sr. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, George Gilbert Jr and her brother Sydney Ricks Jr of Chesapeake, VA.

Vivian attended Booker T. Washington High School and married George Gilbert, Jr in 1956.

Vivian retired from Norfolk Public Schools after 29 ½ years of service.

She dedicated her life to Jehovah and was baptized, December 1990 and remained a faithful servant of Jehovah until her death. She was a member of the Norfolk North Congregation for 27 years and spent the last 6 years in the Princess Anne Congregation.

Vivian was a quiet, mild, and generous person, especially when it came to giving to others. She would always talk about her grand and great grandchildren, loved spending time with them, and showing off pictures of them.

Vivian was a woman of few words and small in stature but those who knew her, understood that she was unwavering in her commitment to the ministry and her family.

She enjoyed shopping, buying jewelry to match her clothing and spending time with friends and family.

Vivian is survived by her son, George Gilbert III, of Portsmouth, VA; two daughters, Sheila Robinson of Portsmouth, VA; Regina McDonald (Miles) of Virginia Beach, VA; two sisters, Juanita High of Norfolk, VA; Helen Ndueso (Peter) of Somerset, NJ; five grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
